Here are the few specimen entries for the Android Makers
Encyclopedia "I" topics:
Idolatry (you will need your browser's [Back] button to return)
Iliac spine as used by [Ducroquet] is the Crest of the Ilium.
Coincident with a plane and this was one point used for
walking studies.
Iliacus (see [Gray, Fig. 253]) fills the iliac fossa; the inside
of the pelvis. It connects the crest of the ilium, the
sacrum, and to one inch below the front of the lesser
trochanter. This muscle is classified with the innermost
layer muscles and fascia of the pelvis and waist area.
Because this extends to below the trochanter of the femur,
this muscle pair could perhaps been included in the hip topic.
It is put here because so much of it is in the pelvis area and it
is one of the few muscles near here at the innermost layer that
connects to the sacrum.
Ilio-costalis, like the Erector spinae, Gray classified in his
"Fourth Layer; Dorsal Region," likewise were put in the
innermost-intermediate layer of the back. See "Erector
spinae."
Ilio-femoral ligature; [Gray, p.268] is wrapped over the synovia
of the hip joint in a particular form. It is made from
WhiFt. See Gray, Figure 164. Also see Gray, Figures 180
and 181. This could be an application to a middle layer,
but the joint integrity and sealing is more important.
Ilio-hypogastric nerve arising from the first Lumbar nerve has an
android equivalent. Control, sense, and power wiring likely
will follow a lot of human nerve paths.
Ilio-lumbar ligament passes horizontally outward from the Fifth
Lumbar's transverse process apex to the Crest of the Ilium.
The Ilium attachment being at the immediate front of the
Sacro-Iliac articulation suggest that this will be critical
mating the spinal and pelvic subassemblies.
Ilium is one of the component bones of the pelvic girdle; Os
Innominatum; with the Ischium and Os Pubis. The pelvis is a
complex shape and not really like anything else, hence the
Latin name meaning "nameless bone" [Gray, p.171]. The shape
of the Ilium is one of the indicators of a skeleton's sex.
The current engineering and design process of the HTA suggest that their pelvic structure may best be made from components alike biology. The complex shapes of these bones made with hybrid forming processes and the applications of ligatures can make
a light, strong, and resilient frame structure for an android as
much like a human as possible.
Note: The geometries and related expressions need to be
known before component dimensions can be computed. The pelvis
plan should be drafted before putting dimensions to the frame
element working drawings.
incarnadine is "to tinge with the color of flesh; to dye red."
[Thatcher] This topic is in this encyclopedia because it
will be important for lifelike hues through translucent
materials of android bones, actuators, fascia, skin, etc.
Inferior Maxillary: See the Superior Maxillary for note about
teeth. This Mandible, an "irregular" bone, is the largest
and strongest bone of the face which will be cast from composite within a deep mold. This part includes a pair of
Rami to form the lower jaw. The shape and finish of this
entire casting is important to the likeness of your android.
See Gray, page 96 for more details of human anatomy.

Interosseous tissues; such as the connection between the Sacrum
and the Ilium, are made from TEFC. An android for an older
persona may have a synovial membrane also. An example of an
interosseous tissue is the Posterior Sacro-Iliac (there is
also an Anterior and Oblique).
Interpupillary measurement; is probably the easiest measurement
to take of a subject. (It is used by optometrists to size
spectacle frames.) The specimen of women in the smallest 5
percentile range from 1.41-to-2.94 inches.a wide range.
Interspinous ligament; of the innermost layer of spinal ligatures, is made of YETS. Vertebral processes have the Interspinous Ligaments in addition to the disks. In fact, the
disks and the interspinous ligaments could be applied at the
same time.
Intertransverse ligaments of the innermost layer of the spinal
ligatures are rounder than of the Lumbar or Cervical
regions. See Gray, page 226 for more human information.
These are intimately interconnected with the back's deep
muscles.
