DISPROPORTION

"The face is regarded as proportionate if the indices are in the normal range (mean . 2SD). ..." The "Extent of the Disproportion"; "... if the patient's index is 80.0 and the maximum normal value is 70.0, the difference (10.0) is 14.3 per cent. The disproportion is considered mild if the difference is 0.1 - 2.9%, moderate if it is 3.0 - 9.9%[,] and marked if it 10% or more." [Farkas, p.6, 7]


     Dolldroid (n) An especially desirable, feminine android-like constructed doll (see "androtic doll" or "femdroid" which is preferred for life size). Familiar personal pronouns; "her," "she," etc.; are applicable and should be used instead of object pronouns such as "it." Her appearance qualifiers are alike what a small-scale, natural born female human would have to elicit the common (although considered sexist and offensive to some) endearing term "doll," "babe," or "honey."



DOLLS AND DOLL MAKING

    There is not much useable information (yet) from this topic of other disciplines and sources of processes and materials information; it is included for the sake of completeness as much as for any other reason. However, here are a few points of material or construction that may be useful. Some categories are:

Bisque:     These dolls are formed from fired clay and the construction suggests to The Android Maker "crustacean" because of the stone-like surface of these parts. Also, these dolls are more like figurines with a few joints than an HTA technology anatomical doll. So, what does this type contribute?
*    The bisque technology, baking clay at firing temperatures, makes a hard surface. This may be suitable for articulation surfaces of frame elements.

*    Molds to make the greenware need formed. There may be applicable carving lessons, hints, and techniques.

*    Although not bisque per se, some of the replicas and similar types are made with synthetic clays. The polymer clays and Paperclays lend themselves to androtic doll making.

Fabric or "Rag:"     Nothing identified as of June 29, 2001. This is retained for completeness and the possibility is not summarily dismissed.

Vinyl:     Can include other artificial materials used extensively within toy and collector dolls. These also have elastomers in their construction which are applicable to androtics; at least at doll scale.

    Specifically, an article Engineering Barbie (in Design News, Dec. 18, 2000, pgs.64-67) described the process for the "twisty tummy" feature of the new Barbie dolls. The characteristics of the newly developed elastomer are quite like skin in color, flexibility, durability, etc.


     Dorsal (prep) of the back, especially along the spine. This is more restrictive than "Posterior." I.e. The legs and arms can have a posterior surface, but they do not have a dorsal surface.

     Dorsal interossei: 1.)  HAND: There are 4 for the innermost layer of act uators of each hand. They (see [Gray, Fig. 244) fit between the metacarpals and attach at the base of them. The other end attaches to the base of the first phalanx. Curiously, the second and third of these muscles are attached to their respective sides of the middle finger's first phalanx.

2.)  FOOT: There are also 4 for the innermost layer of muscles of each foot. They are each attached at one end between two of the metatarsal bones. And then each is attached at the other end to the bases of the first phalanges and in accordance with the respective extensor tendon.

Put the Dorsal act uators in before the Plantars (see "Plantar interossei"). This way, the Dorsals can "cure" in case the next act uators applied by this section are too close to these.

The action of these muscles, especially the second, third, and fourth, are to move the toes away from the big toe (and likewise, the fingers from the thumb). (There was another thought for this topic, but I lost it during the process of a past revision.)



     Dorsal vertebrae (The 12 "Peculiar" [Gray].) The

     First Dorsal vertebrae is identified as significant [Gray, page 41] and will be a skeletal element. The first pair of ribs articulates with a facet near the top.

    The second pair of ribs could be omitted from the android frame, this First Dorsal can include the form of the Second Dorsal for economies of forming. There will be the lower demifacet for the third rib. This part should be known as the "First and Second Dorsal Vertebrae," suggesting a part identifier   "F+2DV" to separate these hybrid parts by number from those which are anatomically more accurate.

     Some of these intervals from the second to the eighth may be combined for androids , and especially for androtic dolls, for economies of forming. The 12 count is for humans [Gray, page 41].

    The Third and Fourth Dorsal could be combined into one part too. The third rib will articulate in the top demifacets of this part and of F+2DV. This part should be known as "3+4DV."

Also, the Fifth and Sixth Dorsal could be combined into one part. There would be a demifacet on the lower surface because the seventh rib would be with the next lower part. The sixth rib would articulate with a facet which is coincident with the demifacets of the human fifth and sixth dorsals. This combined part should be known as "5+6DV."

The Seventh and Eighth Dorsal could be combined into one part like the three previous parts. There could be demifacets on the top surface for the seventh rib pairs to work with 5+6DV. There could be facets for the eighth pair of ribs near the center. There would also be demifacets at the bottom for co-articulation with the ninth pair of ribs and the ninth dorsal. This part could be known as "7+8DV."

     Ninth Dorsal vertebrae is identified as significant [Gray, page 41] and will be a skeletal element. The ninth pair of ribs articulates with a demifacet near the top of this one which it shares with the eighth dorsal.

     Tenth Dorsal is also identified as significant [Gray, page 41] and will be a skeletal element. It has facets for the tenth pair of ribs.

     Eleventh Dorsal is identified as significant [Gray, page 41] and will be a skeletal element too. It has facets for the eleventh pair of ribs.

     Twelfth Dorsal is identified as significant [Gray, page 41] and will be a skeletal element. It has facets for the twelfth pair of ribs.

These human bones accounted for within this topic could be eight android parts.



     Download (v) Put a copy of data from a greater class of computer to a lesser class of computer. The "class" of computer is related to its processor class (by data, address, and instruction word size), memory, and storage capacities. For example; the Zonge GDP available during this experience has an Intel 80186/7 processor with 768(?)KB data cache (battery powered memory) could only download to an 8088 PC class with only floppy drives. An old generation portable with a 720K microfloppy drive is likely the largest scale computer that a Zonge GDP could "download" to. Most modern IBM class computers (clones) far exceed this class as the Intel 80486 processor is now the "entry level" computer. In most product lines, the "Pentium" is no longer at "the bleeding edge of technology."


h     Drawing master files: These are CAD or illustration software data files. Framing elements (bones) and layer display plates are the likely uses.
