Android Makers Encyclopaedia: B

Here are the few specimen entries for the Android Makers Encyclopedia "B" topics:

...

The following is a WordPerfect "Subdoc" from the printed editions...

Biceps, (Arms) [Gray, p.387] is attached at one end to "the apex of the coracoid process, in common with the Coraco-brachialis." The other end "is inserted into the back part of the tuberosity of the radius" with a synovial bursa between the tendon and the tuberosity. The biceps flexes (bends) the forearm.

Biceps, (Legs): Yes; there is a muscle group of the legs call the biceps [Gray, p.432]. It is actually a type of muscle that has only two heads; that which collate into tendons. See "Triceps."

Biceps flexor cruris pivots the leg outward a bit because of its oblique position when the knee is partly flexed. Its long head upper end begins at the ischium's tuberosity's back part's lower and inner impression with a tendon common to the semitendinosis. The sacro-sciatic ligament is part of this connection.

The short head, the femoral head, is attached between the Adductor magnus and Vastus on the outer lip of the linea aspera. The other end opposite of these heads that is adapted into a tendon and then connects to the fibula at the outer side of its head. It also tags the tibia's external tuberosity at the "lateral side."

This discussion of two heads on this end of this muscle seems inconsistent with the definition of a bicep. Why this muscle is not known as a "triceps" instead of a "biceps" is unclear as of this writing July 23, 1995.

BILLETS OR PARTS

Some parts or mold patterns of parts may be available from Anatomical Chart Co., Skokie, IL. See their catalog: "The Anatomical Products Catalog."

Do not rule out wigs, false eyelashes, theatrical makeup techniques and supplies, "glass eyes," false teeth, "Lee Nails," etc. as part of the android or android mockup. It was not clear as of September 12, 1993, how teflon tubing will be a part of a Hatfield Type Android.

See "Carving" for more information relating to billets.

Bioactive Glass Ceramics (n) can become part of a bone, such as part of a hip. (The strength characteristics were not specified, but could be assumed.) [B2000, 6 Aug. 1993.]

Biocompatible Glass Ceramics (n) means that the body will not reject these materials. Biocompatible ceramics are used in replacement inner ear bones. (The strength characteristics were not specified, but could be assumed.) [B2000, 6 Aug. 1993.]

Biocular width: (ex ex) The measurement between the OUTER eye (fissure) openings. "184" On the 60 scale of an engineer's scale is a sample dimension from a portrait.

"... Women with above average faces had a larger biocular width than nose width. [Farkas pg. 95.] This casts aspersions on the "outer" of the definition in the previous paragraph. The nose width suggest the INNER fissure openings. Admittedly, this needs research, but the reference is not available as of this writing on July 26, 1995.
