I use three different browsers on my machines plus I may use other's
machines to do a search. This structured list will allow me access to my
favorite pages and links from wherever I may wander. Also, this is only
one source to maintain. After using this page for a while, I have decided
to reorganize it this way (at least for a while as of April 16, 1997):
System Support:
*
Computer Hardware and Software-General is more universal; that is,
special purpose hardware or software is more incidental than by
design.
*
The Earth Science links have once were cut since I am out of the
business. Since I get Shanghaied, I put them back in. Earth
Sciences Software contain more special purpose software, but some
can be used broadly in earth sciences or in other applications.
These links are not limited to software, but that is my main
focus.
General Links
*
Links to Search sites such as AltaVista to Yahoo.
*
Links to good organizations. Why should I link to those that I
consider bad?
*
And then to assorted sites that are fun or informative that do not fit
the above categories or the following "Publications" category.
*
Links to periodicals and references that I try to read.
*
Finally, Links to what I require for escape from the rat-race ... the
rats have won.
The System Support links follow...

GENERAL LINKS
It makes sense to have a listing of favorite search engines near the top of
this list. Sometimes search engines are a help.
*
The AltaVista: Main page in text mode is a good place to begin a
specific search by key words. I "cut my teeth" on DEC VAX 780 so
I must confess a certain comfort with Digital Electronic
Computers. Notice that sloppy search criteria can return an
overload of "hits" and most of them will not be what you think
you sought.
As suggested by Lipschutz, Robert P., "Smart Searching," Mobile Computing,
vol.8, no.4, April 1997, pg.43.:
*
InfoSeek has a way of doing a structured search; that is, following
and refining topics.
*
And of course, Yahoo! is a favorite. It is topical also, so if you
want to find something about your favorite actor or actress,
Yahoo! - Entertainment:Movies and Films:Actors and Actresses will
fetch a list of who they have located.
These are on my favored list in order of Christian Principles, American
principles, etc. ...

"televangelists" I try to support and watch; usually on the
Family channel at 6:30a.m. Sunday. (Another Levitt URL.)
*
The National Rifle Association (NRA).
*
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF).
Some of these may be copied from my Home page...
*
Washington State Legislature must be checked frequently to detect

May `96 is a collector/keeper for its many reference articles).
*
Our local paper; The Wenatchee World
